The Caribbean islands have many different types of land. Because of that, the islands also have many different kinds of plants and animals, even uncommon ones.
Famous islands in the Caribbean include Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Hispaniola. The countries of Dominican Republic, and Haiti are on Hispaniola.
The Caribbean Sea is home to the World’s second largest barrier reef. Called the Mesoamerican Barrier reef it runs for about 620 miles.
These gloriously clear waters draw millions of visitors each year to the tropical islands of the area, where the sand beaches are soft and pearly white and the waters are warm and perfect for snorkeling.
